Child education is one of the most important investments for a child, a family and the society. Failure in child education could create monsters and hidden bombs in the society. Tremendous resources could be wasted on injuries, damages, polices, courts, lawyers, jails, etc. Troubled children suffer the most. Their future may run astray into the darkness. Their families could be the victims next in line who often bear heavy costs and trauma along the troubled children’s lives. It is our goal to promote ways for smart child education and maximize the benefits for the investments in the child education.
Good child education is crucial to the children’s development. Child development is similar to spending 20 years to build a building. If there is a serious problem in the foundation, the building may be in danger of collapse and not good for its intended use. The foundation of a child development is child education. Many of the problems in adulthood could be traced back to the inadequacy in their child education.
Once a child misconceives an idea, it usually takes multiple times of efforts to get corrected. Assuming we are installing a shower stand and drill a hole on the wall; then we find out we have made a mistake: the shower stand should install in another location. Now what could we do? Instead of alternating the entire construction plan, it is better to take out the shower stand which costs at least three times of the work to do this shower stand: the first is incorrect installation, the second is to tear it out, and the third is to reinstall it at the other location. Similarly, the child has to spend his first effort to learn the misconception, then spend the second effort to take out the misconception and then the child can learn the correct idea.
It is critical that a misconception be corrected at the earliest stage. Assuming we are doing construction on the 3rd floor of the building and discover that there is a serious fraught on the foundation which may cause the building to collapse if the construction is continued. If there is no better alternative, then it would be better to tear down and rebuild the designed 50 floor building. Similarly, when a misconception occurs, the child does not know that he has a misconception, nor anyone else knows about the misconception. The misconception may be amplified and become a “deep-rooted” misconception which needs many times of efforts to correct the misconception later. A good child education is critical to the child’s life and development.
Good child education is an effort of collaboration by all people connected with the child: the teachers, the parents, the school, the community, etc. Some people say that they totally trust their children with good teachers. A good teacher may teach children a lot, but the teacher may not be able to guide their children outside the classroom. Parents, siblings, friends, school mates, community people, etc., will have influences on their children. The question is whether the child may misconceive or not. A team effort is required so that misconceptions, if any, may be reduced to minimum.
Is academic success the goal of child education? Academic success is a part of child education, but a good child education is more than academic success. An education that enable a monster to master super technology may also post a danger to world. It is our goal to educate children so that they may enjoy a successful life in the society.
